Long time, no post.
Since I don't use twitter and probably won't start, I will make my little punctuated updates here.
Last night: got carded buying celebratory bottle of wine. The girl who carded me got all bug-eyed and said, "Wow! You look young...REALLY young." I was like, "But wait....I'm not that old!" 32's not old, right?

My cautions for destination weddings:
* Pay careful attention to the prerequisites you have to meet. I know that when we were looking at Puerto Rico, I found out that we would have to get a blood test. Paperwork, etc etc blah.
* If they're at all difficult, finagle some way you can GET AWAY from your family. I went on a dest. wedding with a friend of mine and her family basically ruined her honeymoon with their bullshit.
Everything else is just gravy. Except maybe hurricanes. Watch out for hurricanes.

i absolutely cannot believe you're being accused of being selfish.
let me tell you, i stopped planning a "real wedding" about ten minutes in -- not coincidentally right about the time people starting telling me what i "had" to do. i put my foot down and said NO, FUCK IT, GETTING MARRIED ON THE BEACH AND NOBODY'S INVITED. the people who don't like it are, i suspect, currently lumping it.
whooo, this is a rant that once it starts, it might not ever end. so, stopping here. but what i'm trying to say is: i feel you. this is one day out of the rest of your life with who i assume is a wonderful man. head up, do your thing, have a great time, never look back.

Like you, I got frustrated pretty early on with the wedding planning, but I was about a month into it before I said "screw it." It became clear pretty quickly that it is totally not worth it, not just from the stress perspective, but also the money. And I never wanted a big fancy white wedding anyways, not my style. I really am so relieved.
YAY FOR BEACH WEDDINGS!
