Okay, I was wondering, because there's a nifty concrete one under the Aurora bridge in Fremont. :)

Whats wrong with the flags being flown because of sporting events. The point of flying a flag is to show your support for the country and outside the backing of our national sporting teams theres very few times where showing this support is actually needed. I mean what other events realloy warrent flying a flag, St Georges day, perhaps the Queens Jubaliee but not much more. In todays socienty we simply dont have the major events where we can show our support and sport is simply one of the few areas we can do so.

Anyway you shouldnt complain, for too long the BNP have hijacked our flag and sport has done this country a great service by helping to take the flag back off them and make it acceptable once more

Nothing is directly wrong with flags being flown for sporting events. It's the fact that they are only flown for sporting events that amuses me more than anything. Flying the flag shows support for the country? So the only way one can support their country is by displaying some tat that was knocked off from some sweatshop in China? Doesn't really follow with me I'm afraid. Even if we go with the whole "showing support" thing, I'm still failing to see exactly how the England team will benefit from this in any possible way ( ... )

The BNP had hijacked the St Georges flag for many years though Eddie. Its only been in the last couple of years where an average person COULD fly the flag because it became sucha trademark for the BNP that flying the flag was more often than not considered a form of racism. If you dared fly a flag the back in 2000 the chances are you would find your local council demanding you took it down at the very least and in some cases people even found legal action being taken against them. Over recent years its started to be reclaimed and much of that is thanks to sport and its certainly no co-incedence that since sport has helped make the flag become acceptable again its become more common for the flag to be flown for other national events and has seen St Georges day be celebrated more than it has in my lifetime ( ... )
