Musings from an Unfiltered Mind, part V (Saturday 27th May 2006 edition)

To the ASA Class of 2006: You've graduated, now don't waste it. Think before you act. You know what I'm talking about (Thursday night/Friday morning). Don't waste for what you've worked so hard.

Five things to do before I die (in no particular order):
-Start and have a family
-Get a PhD in transportation systems engineering
-Conduct JS Bach's Saint Matthew Passion
-Go backpacking through Europe
-Maintain the friendships that I've created over these past years

Source and context of my Senior Quote: available here. (Alternatively, it's the baritone recitative from the final movement of Beethoven's Symphony no. 9 in d minor.)

Thursday evening's commencement exercises marked the first of four commencement exercises for me. (To go: bachelor's, master's, and PhD.) In other words, I'M SUPER FREAKIN' PUMPED!

Windows Internet Explorer 7 rocks my socks! Download here.

The final scores from Showcase Rehearsals 2006: Eddie 10, ASA 8 (I staged a massive 20-point comeback because graduating automatically adds 20 points!)

Ein’ feste Burg ist unser Gott, ein gute Wehr und Waffen;

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Martin Luther, translation Frederic H. Hedge

“Tönet, ihr Pauken! Erschallet, Trompeten! Klingende Saiten, erfüllet die Luft! Singet itzt Lieder, ihr muntren Poeten.”

“Sound, all ye drums now! Resound, all ye trumpets! Resonant viols, make swell now the air! Sing now your anthems, ye vigorous poets.”

text from JS Bach's Cantata no. 214 „Tönet, ihr Pauken!“, first movement

I'm going to end here.

Das Ende, meine Freunde.
