But...

You're dead. And there's a desperate need for body parts to help others who could lead far better lives if they had them!

I can understand not wanting to donate when you're alive, but once you're dead? That confuses me intensely.

Mind, I'm not sure many people would want my organs :S

I'm interested in the why you feel like that. How come?

If it's something you don't want to discuss, don't worry :) My curiosity can remain unfullfilled!

TBH I think it would be great if everybody put it on their journals. Like I said, I've been meaning to do it for years but it's always been one of those things that I've just never got around to doing. Being able to do it via that link worked great.

I wonder how many organs have been waisted because people 'just never get round to it'? It's quite a sobering thought really.

Lots. The stats are really bad on it :( Personally, I'd support a scheme where by you opt out if you don't want your organs to be used after your death.

the nhs is actually considering that option but there is a lot of arguements against because people feel that they are being pressured into it and if they forget or don't get round to it. this came about mainly due to the Yorkhill scandle where the hospital was using dead tissues and organs for experiments without consent- they thought they had it but didn't. anyway, that kinda stopped the idea of 'opting out' before it had even started.
