I have always found myself incapable of writing coherent "reviews" of things, especially when I love the thing with all my heart. It always becomes a simple list of "I loved _____!" or "I absolutely loved ______!" So I won't even try to do that for Deathly HallowsBut I do want to post my two cents about "the end of all things" and fandom's ( Read more... )

I liked most of the book very much, but Ginny and Lily's stories irritated me beyond belief. The big secret about Lily was that Snape fancied her! That was the huge thing we had to hear about her - a secret which actually had more to do with Snape than Lily herself? And Ginny...I don't care if it would have seemed Sue-ish - she should have been given something to do, just as Luna and Neville were. I kept thinking...okay, so this is the moment when Ginny is useful, and she just never was. The treatment of Lily and Ginny (James & Snape and Harry accessories respectively) left a bad taste in my mouth.

Neville and Luna rocked, just by the way. Hardcore!Neville is my new favourite thing, and McGonagall was awesome at the end. Not to mention Molly. I actually cheered during that scene. I also sporfled at Aberforth, even though he was a bit 'voice of the critical reader.'

The epilogue was lame though. I mean, I don't begrudge Harry his happy ending, but...yeah, lame. Very early Rowling. (And Albus Severus? Poor kid).

Ron and Hermione's first kiss was like one of the best moments of the entire book! It was SO utterly perfect...and you're right...worth seven books!

The epilogue disappointed me too. It seemed a bit cheezy considering everything they went through, but on the other hand, that is reassuring too that life can be normal again after so much tragedy.

I was so happy about Snape. I picked up the clues, but didn't realize how early it all started. It was cool to be affirmed but have a surprise at the same time.
