Was it really clotted cream or was it whipped? I would love the recipe to use at Midsummer Feast in a few weeks.

Out of the three or four recipes for clotted cream (or clotted-cream-like substances!) that I found, it seemed the least time consuming and the most economical. It was a combination of heavy cream, sour cream, and a bit of powdered sugar. I will admit to being incredibly lazy and not spending enough time with the blender to make things as thick as they could have been...

1C heavy whipping cream
1/3C sour cream
1T powdered sugar

The other alternatives involved cream cheese or mascarpone and I just didn't want to go that far over budget. I also was a bit unwilling to toy with making my own from scratch. Perhaps next time...
