take the horror challengeAn undertaking like this naturally makes me wonder what, exactly, constitutes a 'horror' movie. Where does a 'thriller' end and a 'horror movie' begin? Does it necessarily include a great deal of gore and gratuitous nudity? Is it just what IMDB classifies as belonging in the genre? Most importantly, can I watch the Hannibal ( Read more... )

Same here. It's kinda terrible but kinda fun too. I watched it while I read Kant's Critique of Judgement, and it's hard to tell which was more disturbing. :)

Just think of F. Murray Abraham traveling in slow motion to his demise, and that will help you find your answer.

Haha, well, my best friend said he thought it sounded like a gay porno, which might have made for a better ending. I was really digging it until they revealed the truth about the train. The revelation seemed too rushed and unexplained for me, plus I find humans to be far more interesting villains than monsters. But I thought Mahogany was pretty hot, and I really like the visuals of it and that one guy's eyes poppin' out. I thought the gore was well done. It's one I want to watch again, though. What'd you think?

I liked the truth about the train. It was undeveloped, yeah, but it came so far out of left field that my waning attention was drawn back in by the WTF factor of it.

As for the gore, I loved the scene with the girl's head being hit off.

Overall, I liked it (minus the relationship story, which was stupid), but I think that it's a shame it didn't get the effects cleanup and release that Lion's Gate was going to give it. The effects looked really cartoonish at times when they could have been really cool.
