For the past few years I decorated the apartment with handmade paper snowflakes.
We don't do it every year now, but on occasion we will put up a tree. (In the country where I was born, "holiday" trees are put up for New Year's)
At around 11-something PM, my parents and I eat hors d'oeuvres.
When there are only a few minutes left until Midnight, we all gather around the best TV in the house (currently the one in my parent's room) and watch the ball drop in Times Square.
In the country where I was born, we give presents on New Year's, so after the clock strikes 12, we all exchange gifts.
