By the time Cloud saw Bellflower, he'd, ah, sampled several of the alcoholic beverages--mainly the different kinds of beer--and he was definitely feeling the sort of unique warmth that tended to come from drinking alcohol in large quantities. Normally he'd have stopped before it got to this point, but... somehow, with everything that had happened lately, he couldn't bring himself to care enough to stop. And the haze that was starting to interfere with his ability to think clearly was actually kind of nice. It meant his thoughts weren't revolving around the issue of whether they were all dead or not, for the first time since he woke up from his little 'nap.'

With another open bottle of beer in hand, he walked over to her. He could still walk straight, at least, so she might not immediately notice he was tipsy. "Hey, Bellflower-s*hic*san."

...okay, maybe she would notice right away.

"Oh?" Despite the fact that he was determined to tell her about mushi, he couldn't help but be slightly distracted by that comment. "You can? Huh."

He wondered suddenly, as he finished the last of his beer, just what powers Marbles had that she was one of the few who could see them. "Mmm... ever figure out more about that?"

And, with the ease of someone whose thoughts are already kind of fuzzy, he switched the subject in the same breath. "There were more down there than I'd imagined there might be; there must be thousands of different kinds." He set the empty bottle on the table with slightly exaggerated carefulness, trying not to put it down too loudly. "I remember more about a lot of them now, though. So it's good I went, after all."

"I'm glad of that, then," Bellflower replied, her smile and words both wholly genuine. Cloud's current state, bottle included, did not go unnoticed, however. She arched an eyebrow, and added with a touch of dry humor, "And I did learn more - but perhaps that conversation should be saved for when you'll remember it." Though she didn't truly mind - it was a party after all, a certain amount of indulgence was expected.

Cloud blinked at her for a second, then his expression turned vaguely indignant. "Oi, I'm not that drunk..." The words were mumbled so quietly it wasn't entirely clear if he realized he'd spoken them aloud.

"...hnn, okay." He was fairly certain he would remember later, but... maybe she just didn't want to talk to him while he was intoxicated? He could understand that.

Well, whatever the reason, he didn't want to do anything to damage whatever chances they had to rebuild whatever friendship there was between them. So he just smiled, and said, "We'll talk later, definitely."

He didn't make any move to get up from the bench just yet, his gaze going back to watching people move around and mingle. He was still smiling slightly; he didn't mind that she'd called a raincheck, though whether that was due to the alcohol or because he genuinely didn't mind was anyone's guess.

Bellflower's grin twitched a little wider at the half-mumbled words. She actually agreed, really - her comment had mostly been in jest. But even so, she felt like now wasn't the right time or mood for such a discussion. Better to relax, for the moment. "I'll look forward to it, then."

She watched as well in silence for a few moments, and then rose, giving Cloud a small smile. "I think I may see what food is left - would you like something as well?"

He glanced up at her as she rose, then waved his hand vaguely. "Nah, thanks. I'm fine." He wasn't hungry, and he could get his own drink. Especially after those comments regarding the current condition of his memory.

He smiled at her, in an approximation of his normal muted expression. "It was nice talking with you again, Bellflower." While that was true, he would never have said it so openly if he'd been sober.

She knew that was a little more honest than Cloud usually was with his words, and she gave him a somewhat gentler smile in return. "It was good to talk with you as well - and I look forward to doing so again soon. Over more tea, perhaps."

The sentiment was a sincere one - it was good to be on more even footing with Cloud again.

"Tea sounds good." Cloud shifted, leaning forward slightly before pushing himself to his feet. "'Til next time, then." He started to move off into the crowd, his step a touch unsteady, but not so badly that he was running into people.
