Squeaking a drying rag around inside a cocktail glass, she held it up to the light and squinted at it, looking for smears. The tip of her tongue protruded just slightly, giving her an unconsciously comical look.

"I'm sure that's clean," she said, smiling out of the corner of her mouth, as she deposited another load of dirty glasses on the kitchen counter. "We could always just dim the lights so they wouldn't notice, anyway, right?" Her voice dropped to a joking note.

Her brief smile faded away again as she wiped at the glass, though. The water was getting cloudy, so she'd have to change it out soon. Dim the lights, huh? How many lightbulbs were switched off in her own brain? She bit her lip, too captured by that mental image to notice that she'd been absently washing the same glass since she picked it up.

"Listen," she said, gently. "Would you maybe like to tell me what's wrong? I mean, you're climbing towards intervention-levels of glum and moody here, and it's really not like you. I'm a bit worried."

It was horribly hard to lie with Kage looking up at her like that, all playful and concerned at the same time. "I'm just kinda tired, that's all!" she insisted. "There's a lot of housework to do, while it's just me at home, and...um."

"You know you can ask for time off if you need it, right?" She quirked her mouth. "We're properly staffed now, so I'm not going to run anyone into the ground. But..." A deep breath, and she soldiered on. "It's not really that, is it?"

"I...I think I lost some memories," she admitted. She bit her lip, staring at her boots. "When...you know."

Then she stepped back a little, more to give the other girl space, if she happened to want it. "The same thing happened to me. I... don't think it was anything big, but... I feel like I've forgotten someone. Or something. I, um, keep notes of things I want to remember, and some of them are just wiped out.
"So I know how it is, that's all I'm trying to say. Do you want to talk about it?"

There was nothing for her to cry about, right? So she'd lost a couple of memories. Everybody did. Kage did, and she wasn't bawling like a big baby, right? They could just...make new ones.
When Wolf got back. When King got back.
"Nah," she said, managing to pull her smile back together. "I'll be okay. Happens all the time, right?"
But...she couldn't resist leaning over, to give Kage a quick hug. Just 'cause. Sometimes...sometimes you just needed a hug.

"If you're sure," she said by way of a last opening, then simply nodded. "Just take care, will you now?"

Clapping her hands, she turned back to the tub of soapsuds. No time for being a broody McBroodface. She had work to do!
