Smoke was working on repairing one of the bridges when he noticed the ground below - the ground on the level below, actually - literally shift. It was the first time he'd ever seen the Unstable Space in an active mode of transformation.
At first he was awed by it, having never in his lifetime - memories or no - seen such a thing. But then he realized it was actually making the greenery harsher, colder. It was all greys and ash-browns now, none of the rich colors he enjoyed seeing in Edensphere.
Curiosity got the better of him and so Smoke managed to get down to the level, still wary of actually going into the changed space. It wouldn't be hard to spy the redhead, though - plain pants and work shoes were all he wore, having left his tools on the upper level and didn't wear a shirt because it was the only time he got away with it. Something made him wary of it though, so he did bring his weapon with him.
For awhile he just stood there and blinked, trying to discern what the transformation was all about.
