[[OOC: Anyone who was promised a hug or kiss from Bridge from me can cash in any time. I plan on throwing him into every log that goes up. XD]]

It wasn't like Bridge was PURPOSELY looking for people to be mistletoe'd with.

No, no, certainly not.

The sign he'd hung around his neck reading "FREE HUGS" meant absolutely nothing at all. Nor did the fact that he was roaming around populated areas, whistling a happy tune.

Who would he encounter first?

Cara grinned when she caught sight of Bridge and the sign he was wearing. Well, it was good that someone wasn't taking this too seriously. Or--she corrected herself--was taking it quite seriously. Hugs were an important matter, after all!

"Hey, Bridge!" she called, heading over and hugging him at once. Whether or not there was any actual mistletoe in the area was pretty irrelevant as far as she was concerned.

Bridge's smile only widened as he hugged Cara back.

"Hey! Isn't this just an awesome bit of Sphereness?" he asked, bouncing on the balls of his feet. "It seems to have brought out the most deep, loving feelings and-or biting sarcasm in everyone."

"I think I like the deep, loving feelings better than the biting sarcasm," said Cara, still smiling widely. It was nice to see Bridge in such a happy mood, and impossible not to be infected by it herself.

She tapped his sign playfully. "Nice to see you going and doing a civic something-or-other too! The Sphere should have more hug volunteers."

Bernard was happy.

More than happy, she was ecstatic.

The Sphere was full of love today!

And even better, she had a piece of mistletoe RIGHT OVER HER TANK that was drawing people toward her to be hugged! She hoped this would last forever.

[[OOC: Anyone who wants to can control Bernard, this thread is here for lulz. XD]]

In a mark of admirable forethought, Grace thought it was a good idea to acquaint herself with the various creatures that haunted the world of Edensphere. Who knew the next time a giant snake might attack? Or those over-sized squirrels? Why, next, it may be a fish-man! Grace laughed at the idea, though something struck her about the validity of such a concern.

She drew near a tank and her eyes flicked upward. Above her was a cluster of leaves. No recognition came to her mind of its natural importance, so she began to move away again, but something prevented her.

She pushed against the enchantment. Nothing. With a frown, Grace looked around. As her brown eyes fell on the tank, she spotted the pink creature.

The woman flipped the loose fuchsia hair over her shoulder. "Release your spell." Grace said flatly, hands on hips.

A new friend!

Chittering happily, Bernard oozed over the side of her tank and wrapped the woman that was coming toward her tank in her tentacles, drawing her close. She had known that her patience would be rewarded, and indeed, here was someone to love and hug.

/does not have a proper icon to convey the disgust and horror chaostorm October 7 2009, 19:48:38 UTC
The reaction was immediate. This thing had some sort of hold on her and it would take nothing less than the best of her skill to escape. Immediately, she began struggling.

"Release me, you filthy thing!" She could feel the tentacles on her body. Disgust rolled through her as she began to try to peel the thing from her body. Pink it may be, but it was incredibly invasive and much too personal for her tastes! Fire was building under her skin. She could feel it as surely as any other sense. Fury swept through her as her temper took hold.

She found herself looking around - no, she had come here alone. Worry, rage, disgust all tumbled together inside her. Where were they? She pushed against the creature harder.

He had seen the journal entries popping up earlier that day. All of them had made one thing incredibly clear to him: there was yet another horrible trick being played on the populace of the 'sphere, and he wanted no part of it. The idea of being stuck to someone was anathema to his very nature; even if he did feel fairly close to those one or two he trusted, and would follow them almost without question if they asked, he did not want to be attached to them and he did not want to be forced into displays of affection of any kind. True, he wasn't sure if that was because he didn't like them, or because he didn't feel that someone as worthless as himself either needed or deserved them--possibly both--but it hardly mattered ( ... )

Cara hummed a little as she headed through the Marketplace, on the way to the bridge that led to the Access Point. She fiddled with the bangle on her wrist, still wondering heavily about it whenever she had a free moment. Despite the fact that it was a little large on her it didn't seem to be in any danger of falling off, for which she was grateful.

Her footsteps suddenly stopped, though, as she passed by someone. "Uh-oh," she muttered, glancing up to see what looked like a sprig of mistletoe in the gloom, and then over at the person--who proved to be Nobody, judging by the shelf of hair jutting out from his forehead. "Hi there."

Nobody's one visible green eye widened slightly as he heard the greeting from close by, and he tensed when he realized it was indeed aimed at him. He didn't recognize the bangle from the time he'd seen her at the weapons shop, but he still remembered Cara and her obvious tendency towards friendly words and gestures.

The boy immediately began glancing around to try and lay eyes on some kind of escape path, the thought of being stuck out in the open with someone like that under a piece of--

In the end, he didn't greet her in return, instead staring up at the offending sprig with blank-faced and muted confusion, unable to move away no matter how much he wanted to.

Cara sighed. She didn't have a problem with hugging Bridge--actually, she wouldn't have much of a problem hugging most of the people that she knew. But she had only met Nobody about a week ago and it wasn't as though they were particularly close. Which wasn't to say that Cara didn't want to get to know him, but... eesh.

Not to mention Nobody's frantic search for an escape route before just looking up silently. Oh well. It wasn't as though this was the worst that could happen today. "Sorry about this," she said in a relatively unbothered tone of voice, and gave him a swift hug.

Open to all, marketplace, um... early afternoon, i guess. burntorangesky October 7 2009, 19:07:44 UTC
((I'll probably be tossing her in every day, so feel free to jump in at any time. Oh, and because she got a memory crystal, she currently has snake-hair. This won't go away until the end of the week XD ))

Fred had gotten up late this morning long after Roswell had been at his job, and had spent a busy day in the Scavenger's Yard... so busy, in fact, that she hadn't had time to check her journal. So she had no clue of the latest strange thing that Edensphere had done, such as scatter hug-or-kiss-inducing mistletoe all over the place.

When she was taking the lift home, she remembered that she had wanted to stop in the Marketplace and get a few necessities. So when the lift stopped at the Access Point island, she got out and walked over the bridge to the Marketplace.

She paid no attention to the white-berried plants that had suddenly appeared here and there over the shops and stalls. A little decoration never hurt anyone.

Fugue hadn't really been paying too much attention to the journals, but it wasn't like this was entirely uncommon. He'd noticed that a lot of people seemed... interested in one another? cozy with one another? It was somewhat hard for him to tell, but he couldn't help thinking that the exile was up to something again. What that was exactly, he wasn't certain of just yet.

But he'd done some wandering through the Marketplace and somehow managed not to be roped into anything. Yet. That was all about to change right now ( ... )

She noticed him out of the corner of her eye first. A tall-ish person with black hair was coming toward her, very slowly. Since Fred had assumed that her snakes would probably make most people run away from her, she turned her head in his direction. To her puzzlement, her body also started moving in that direction. What in goodness' name was going on here?

fugue_angel October 8 2009, 04:16:00 UTC
He had a sinking feeling in his stomach, but it was probably from fear of the snakes rather than a reaction to the woman herself. Even though Fugue was trying to stop himself, his body just kept on moving. The man barely managed an abrupt halt right in front of her.

"G-good afternoon!" Fugue choked out nervously. "I'm sorry about... whatever it is that's happening. It's rather inconvenient, don't you think?"

The man was pressing his feet into the ground as hard as possible to prevent himself from moving, but it was as if he felt himself still sliding toward the woman. He let out a quiet groan as he continued fighting off that bizarre compulsion.

It hadn't taken long, from the journal entries and his own observations, to figure out how this new event worked. Two people happen to pass a little too close under those little plants, and they were stuck. Stuck, at least, until they showed a little affection towards one another. Very cutesy, very nice for couples, and one hell of an opportunity for Praise.

It hadn't taken long to 'accidentally' run into one of the shopkeepers, laughing casually at their 'predicament', awkward introductions, and then spending probably a little longer than he needed to with his tongue in her mouth- But then she'd made the excuse of being late for work and had dashed off without even giving a handwriting sample. He growled to himself at this, withdrawing back out of the main street to keep an eye on people and to make note of where the plants were growing.

"I can't believe you're doing this to us," Raise sighed from the back of their mind. He knew Praise was pent up and frustrated, but this was a little much. "And what's the point?""Shut up, ( ... )

An over-sized hoodie and dirty jeans marked the girl as she walked among the humans of the Market. There were no clues she could find, no hints, not a whisper about Pure or the kids from her memory. Her face was focused. Hybrid's whole attention was so focused on thinking, the voice oddly silent for so long, that she didn't notice as the mistletoe pulled her closer to a rather suspicious figure standing near a stall.

Her eyes looked up as her sensitive ears caught something of a cackle. Blink, blink. Okay. Mom told me never to talk to strangers, her mind prompts rather snarkily, only to find herself somewhat torn over the use of mother. So she turns away only to find she can't force herself away.

Dang.

He paused in his talking to himself, taking a step forward. "Th' fuck?" He snarled the worlds to himself, eyes immediately going upwards. He thought he had been sure he wasn't close enough to those plants... but then again, they were probably capable of moving, knowing the Sphere. Praise cursed again to himself.

Well, at least it was something to do. He finally spotted her- she looked underage, of course. His lip drew back a little bit at that. He didn't particularly recognize her.

Still, he might as well keep his act up. He forced himself to relax, putting on his best, mildly-amused smile and shaking his head. "To think, I should know better than to stand in one spot with this going on." Despite his casual appearance, the gold eye never stopped it's motion, as though appraising her- who she was, how she hid herself behind the large sweater, mannerisms, anything. He might as well take the opportunity and watch people.

Her eyes caught some sort of change in behavior, but it was too quick for her to actually assess. That set off her alarms, but there wasn't much she could do at this point. All her willpower was put in getting away, but there was no luck.

Peachy keen. Now what.

Her eyes glanced around, something of a made-up casual. It might have been her tapping foot or slightly uncomfortable air, but there was a hint of uncertainty. Some couples were kissing. Some hugging. Neither particular appealed to her. Sure, kissing was nice between couples, not someone she didn't know. And hugging? She wasn't particularly huggy to begin with.

"Yeah." A hollow laugh. Was he actually convinced she knew how to be human, to act like a normal person? She couldn't tell at this point. "The only way out is..." Hybrid made a wide gesture toward the rest of the marketplace. "That?" There had to be a catch.

Hey, Voice. Any cheesy hints? No response. She might have frowned if it didn't involve showing she was frowning at -let's face it- a voice in her head. Sane ( ... )
