What had been known as Medical Island was nearly unrecognizable. The clinic still stood, and even held supplies--convenient ones, for what they were facing--but the marks of a raging fire remained, and spots still smoldered on the edge. Criss-crossing the land were great streaks of ice, the shattered remains of tiny glaciers.
Makeshift pallets had been set up on the ground due to the clinic's small size and general unsuitability, but many people had to simply lie down and hope for aid. Here and there, the still forms of people who could not be saved lay silently, never to get up.
It wasn't Hell. It was what came after.
