It was a fine, hot day, one of those rare, perfect August days that dawn glowing with all the beauty of summer and just a hint of the crispness of autumn.
The Park had been bustling since the hour of sunup, with people running to and fro hanging decorations, pitching stalls, setting up games, carrying things and in general making ready for the main body of visitors that would trickle in along the day. Many of the trees were draped with paper decorations, and lanterns had been strung in colourful lines between sturdy tree limbs. Someone had even gone to the trouble of constructing a tree house in the lower branches of one sprawling oak.
Several of the vendours from the Bazaar had moved their stalls into the Park for the day, creating a miniature marketplace in a wide clearing. With a little searching, one could find mostly any manner of snack or delicacy that Edensphere had to offer. Smoke's joined the occasion with a drinks stall catering to both the young and the older. Thanks to the efforts of the organisers, there were also several low tables laden with various sorts of food and drink available to the more spendthrift residents.
An area had been set aside for different games and races, from an obstacle course to three-legged races organised as often as enough interested parties showed up on the spot. There would be music later in the day, and a sort of dance floor had been cleared and marked for the purpose.
All in all, it was an excellent day for a celebration.
