Talking with a fellow dancer last night about other people's dance styles, I realized we don't really know much about our own dance styles, from an outside point of view.
If you've danced with me, or watched me dance - how would you describe my dance style?
Be as descriptive (or simple) as you'd like.

I would suggest having someone video tape you and a few leads you admire (who agree to be taped) dancing to the same song one at a time with the same follow. Then you'll be able to compare your dance style to theirs.
Overall descriptive would be something like "Whether he leads you astray or showcases you for the dance paparazzi, Sam's lead is always assertive".

It might be fun to set up a dance stylings workshop to help people develop and become aware of their style. We'd just need a camera, a studio, and some basic editing. On the cheaper/easier side of things, you can always dancing front of a mirror at one of the venues with mirrors.
I think I'm going to steal this idea for myself too if you don't mind.

Interesting idea.
I'm good with the video idea, but I don't think watching myself dance in a mirror has ever helped me at all - too confusing.
On that front - there's a rumor you're taking over SNW in September - any truth to that?
Steal the idea - just credit me :)

RE: Video - I have a video camera, though no tripod. Someone who has final cut can probably help with editing (I don't have it, though I can use it).

I have a digital camera with more than capable (640x480, 30fps) video capture, &/or a video iphone that uploads directly to youtube on the fly.
I have a mimi-tripod, etc.
