Pavel wasn't the only one who had been thinking. Kirk hadn't been at school very recently - not with his bike out of order, skipping school to go get it repaired at Scotty's place, talking to him about everything that had kept managing to happen. Kirk had plenty of time to think, plenty of time to imagine what had happened in his head over and over. He was still fairly sure he did the right thing, but ... if he had just accepted it, moved on, maybe the cigarette break in second period wouldn't have been just him alone with the cold.

When he saw his locker slam shut in front of him, Kirk raised an eyebrow.

"What?" He honestly, hadn't expected Pavel to talk to him for a good long time.

"A minute. Sixty seconds. I need to talk to you," Pavel told him, sliding into the old habit of being as irritable as possible in hopes that it would protect him in case Jim tried to lash out again. He really hoped he wouldn't. Loathe as he was to admit it, he missed him.

"Rumor has it that you took Miss Nyota Uhura home after the party a few weekends ago."

"You've got sixty seconds. Hundred and twenty, even, I'm feeling generous." Kirk leaned against the lockers, his hands deep in his leather jacket pockets. He'd never admit that he missed Pavel, at least, not out loud.

"I did. What of it?"

"I will not even need that long," he promised, crossing his arms over his chest and shooting a cold glare back at a passing student. "You want her, though it could just as easily be because you cannot stand someone being unconquered. Therefore, I have a proposition for you."
