Some Edge-type romance

Has anyone been lucky enough to read "The Stone Pilot"? And if so, where Maugin and Twig really in love? Wikipedia seems to think so, but I never really saw "love" per se. More of an affection that sort of went nowhere, because Twig married Sinew...so, you know. Kinda went "kaput ( Read more... )

As for the romance between Twig and Maugin... it's hard to say. Maugin got stuck at Riverrise, thus making her relationship with Twig unfinished.

As to Twig's marriage to Sinew... it is possible to have more love than one in all the time that we live.

The question really is: would there be something if there could be something?

I think yes, that love was beginning to blossom.

I didn't read but the english fans told me about. There isn't anything about Maugin and Twig. It is the story of Maugin's youth, how she became a stone pilot. So it's a story of Maugin and Cloud Wolf...

I heard she was going to have weird experiments performed on her by some scientist? I can't remember where I heard that...

I thought there might have been something at one point, but paperdialup has a point. Twig did marry Sinew (which I loved by the way), which obviously means that whatever he had with Maugin wasn't serious, or maybe a more sibling-like relationship.

My theory is.... scarlet_crow November 15 2006, 08:16:54 UTC
I've spent sleepless nights on this one:

-Twig actually loves Maugin but when he realizes he'll never see her again he decides to move on with his life n get some heirs, etc.
-He actually loves Sinew but its more a brother-sister love
-When he finds Maugin at Riverrise he drinks some water and becomes young again and they fulfill their epic romance!!!

How does that sound??

I'm really late to this - but the wish that Twig made in the Mire was for the Windcutter (the ship that Screed Toe-Taker was living in) to fly.

"YES!" Twig cried out. The wish he had made as the shooting star flew across the sky had come true. The Wincutter was skybourne. They were on their way back to Undertown.

So... no real kissing involved, methinks.

I haven't finished Midnight Over Sanctaphrax, but I don't think Twig and Maugin were in love, more brother sister type thing.

This is so old that probably nobody will ever read it but... rehbek July 4 2010, 01:41:03 UTC
I've just found this community and I was just looking at the posts and I saw this one.

I currently have The Lost Barkscrolls on my hands. The following paragraph is from The Stone Pilot:

After many voyages and some great sorrows, I was proud, in turn, to repay some great debt I owed Quint by serving his son, Captain Twig, who I came to love with all my heart.

Now what kind of love this is, I don't know. I can't deny I'm a Twig/Maugin shipper, anyways.
