I liked this very much! I think that you did indeed manage to get the style of the book introductions here, and I'm looking forward very much to what's to come. The third paragraph in particular was lovely, with the feeling of so much going on perfectly captured.

One little thing: you start in present tense, then switch to past, then back to present, which is a little distracting.

As I said, I'm looking forward to when you post the next part!

Thank you! I'm glad to have made a good start.

Gah. Apologies about the tenses. I started off without the idea of imitating the introductions from the books, and when I added the present tense beginning I went back to fix the rest of it... and apparently forgot some parts. I'll go fix that now. Thanks for pointing it out.
