I am thinking of retiring this ol' LJ. It's been around for years, and I may yet keep it. But I think I need to move on.

I would recommend saving the journal for yourself and using the mass edit tool to mark everything private. You can then in addition unfriend everyone. It may mean something to you later on to be able to look back at your entries.

I'm definitely keeping this journal for my own personal use (so many memories, seriously), but I don't have a paid account so I can't mass edit the security. I know it's only $5, but my husband handles the finances and I know he wouldn't think it would be worth it to spend the money on such a silly thing (he knows I've been a LJ user for years, but I don't think he cares, haha).

Also, you could just mark certain dates, years private so that you are the only one who has access to them without having to do a whole new journal.
