I've seen this sort of thing before. Heck, most people have, in less dramatic ways, in film or television if nowhere else. You're looking at someone with an emotional illness. It may be disgusting, but its no more disgusting to look at than someone elses' physical illnesses, and no one (except mebbe rotten.com or such) is going to put a photoshoot of someone's physical ailments on display for strangers to go off about how gross they are.
Ya know, you probably have a bit of a point to your reply. However, using the comparison to a physical illness, this would be like someone letting their leg infection turn into full-blown gangrene and their leg literally rotting away in front of them and then them collecting the scabs or maggots or shit. There's a point when you get *treatment* for an illness - of any kind.
Maybe it's cause I don't suffer from this. Maybe I'm just harsh cause I don't have a high opinion of people in general. It just honestly surprised me that *anyone* could live like that.
I'd say I share your opinion of the general populace. But when the illness to be treated is seated in the thought process itself, it's hardly reasonable to rely on someone's gangrenous mind to reach same conclusions you or I would.
My point, though, if any, had more to do with how much of an asshole the original poster had to be, to post the photos where they did, with such ignorance and indignation. Just as you say, who'd purposefully live like that? But this landlord's suggesting something so extreme was a conscious, possibly even malicious, choice. If their tenant had instead been in a lethal kitchen accident in the apartment, would the landlord put up pictures and bitch? "How dare he bleed on my carpet? Look at all these stains!" Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if they did just that - having a low opinion of the populace and all as I do.
It's just that my opinion of the photographer is lower than that of the sick tenant.
Dude. My dad used to buy and rent out houses. A couple of them were almost that bad. In one eight-room house the previous owners had only been living in three rooms because the rest were filled with trash. There was a hole in the kitchen floor big enough to fall through.
Not really suprised..disgusted, but not surprised.cain_iiiSeptember 24 2008, 16:26:24 UTC
My family rents out houses and rooms in the city. We have had rooms similar to this one. People are incredibly nasty. And sometimes, to fuck with the landlords, they will do some horribly nasty stuff. We had one tenant smear the walls with their own feces.
Yeah.....
People are fucked up. And this is why you get a security deposit.
