I realize this is 'old news' but been meaning to just make this comment. I will leave it to peace873 to explain to anyone the physics and gun knowledge behind why this was a bad idea

The gun-owning community is pretty much unified in blaming this on the firearm instructor, who should have known that a small boy can't handle a light-weight, high-recoil, stockless weapon. He was extremely negligent

So the guy responsible is a police officer. The police chief, no less. NICE.

The other two guys were assured by the cop that everything was legal. Unless they were part of the reason that a 15-year-old was giving out the machine guns (!!!!) I don't see why they should be charged. There should be something you can charge a cop with when they misrepresent the law and/or encourage someone to break the law.
