Not that this makes it ok, but supply and demand economics do have a basis... the higher price prevents irresponsible purchasing. This is my economics classes from school talking, but there is a famous case where a politician froze prices during war conditions - the result was famine. People stocked up when they didn't need to and others starved. Anyway, this is way off the subject. Price gouging for it's own sake is sick, and it very well may be what is happening here.

I'm sort of glad I can't get to the TV right now. I can't quite fathom the devestation out there. What do you do with a whole city gone?

She talked about this better than I do, and actually made me see your points a little more clearly. Sometimes I think I lack for compassion. What is going on is horrible. Just horrible.

That is the most succinct post on this subject that I can imagine! Thanks for sharing with me, Kirsten.

I honestly have to say that in the first few hours, I was sceptical... but now watching the total devistation, my heart breaks.

These people had no other way to leave, no car, no nothing. And now they have watched the last little piece of property they had (their home) be destroyed by slow, painful rot...

I can't put into words my feelings for these people...
