DS Project : Carry all your games, old and new, at once!

Many of you have owned a device in the Game Boy. Some of you have been using these Game Boys since the system debuted with a Tetris cartridge in 1989. I am one of those people. I now own a Nintendo DS with a flash card that lets me store games on it and play from the card, rather than carrying around a collection of cartridges and changing every ( Read more... )

This definitely looks like something that I'd like to get into. Bookmarked!

My ol' SuperCard miniSD drive for DS stopped working a few months back, and I've been itching to get one of the newer drives that fit in the DS slot instead of the GBA slot.

gbatemp.net is a good site for reviews and questions about Slot-1 cards. Keep in mind with some you have to buy a Slot-2 card as well if you want to play GBA games again. I've got a DSTT, and I am happy with it except for organizing stuff in the menu (there is only one list, and it's in order of items put onto the card, so it's difficult to sort. I use DriveSort to do it), and it does not natively play GBA games, which is something I want.

Just sharing some experiences from when I backed up my DS saves.

If savsender is stuck at Welcome to Savsender 1.1! - Check your wireless security settings. If you disabled SSID broadcast for extra security you need to enable it for savsender. After you are done backing up your saves you can disable it again.

I wasn't sure how to name the files so my Slot 1 Flash card could read them after they were converted. Here is what I did.

1. Downloaded and ran the ROM of a game I backed up. The one I use makes a .sav file when you first run the game. Example 1084 - Etrian Odyssey (U).sav
2. Copy the name of that .sav file.
3. Rename your converted backup file with the copied info.
4. Copy the backup file to your flash card and overwrite the file. Be careful here! I made sure to have two windows open so I could see where I was copying from/to. This does have the potential for making your backup blank if you copy things wrong.

Note you could also do this step before you convert your file.
