My newspaper subscription is up for annual renewal. Immediate disclaimer: Due to the nature of my job, I ought to renew. And I can write off the subscription to taxes.
I have subscribed to a daily paper for nearly 35 years. When the subscription ran out a few months ago, we didn't renew, and I felt bereft, guilty and resentful. Like your paper, our local paper has laid off at least half of its reporting staff and the local section and op-ed have been cut in half, with a lot of crappy wire-service filler. They advertised, in the home section, a story on something which I was interested in reading; it was two short paragraphs with huge illustrations and what looked like superior-grade clipart.
Enough. I can read online if I want to. I resent paying a great deal of money for greatly reduced content.
