"Stop trying to be a nonconformist. You're not dressed like one."

This person was bemoaning the state of journalism today (emphasis mine):

I find it particularly ironic that e-mail and blogs have enabled and encouraged a mass population to write more frequently than they may ever have before, but have also seemed to excelerate the disintegration of spelling, grammar and proofreading.

I got contact lenses about 10 days ago, and they make some things easier. My distance vision and depth perception are mostly back to normal. Up close, though, it's strange. Guess I better get off my butt and train.

I joined a gym just a few blocks from my apartment so I could do treadmill workouts when it's too hot to go outside (as it will be most days all summer). Already been there twice. Worth it.

The bubble in my left eye kept shrinking and finally disappeared Wednesday evening. That night I slept rather well, turning over as I pleased, and Thursday I went for a short run. I am soooooooooooooo out of shape ( Read more... )

Oy. Recovering from eye surgery here. I had a slight shadow on the edge of my vision in my left eye, so I went to the optometrist on Thursday. He sent me to a retina specialist Friday morning, who said I had a detached retina. That counts as emergency surgery, so I was scheduled for the OR that night.
