Customer service can definitely suck. I'm *still* angry about a library customer who called me a liar like maybe 20 years ago or so. And why would I lie to her about all the public computers being in use on the 2nd & 3rd floors? She continued to call me a liar and bitch at me on the escalator from the 2nd to the 3rd floor. If I didn't warn 3rd floor staff that she was on her way, I should have. Although maybe they could hear her on her way up.
It's ridiculous that such people can take up valuable space in one's brain - without paying rent - and can continue to do so for decades. Sometimes - but not always - I'm able to shrug off such rudeness by being glad I don't have to live in THAT person's brain, where life would be very dismal indeed if a friendly, well-intending, helpful librarian can set her off like that. Other times I can shrug it off by realizing there have been many more truly positive customer interactions making it all worthwhile. Fortunately those stay in my brain for decades too!
