So here's a fun game...

The other night on Cougar Town, the gang was sitting around and playing a game where they mash up the names of two movies and you have to guess the title based on the plot. Some of the examples I remember from the show were:

"Teenage castaways lose their virginity and look for pirate treasure."
The Blue Lagoonies"A crime solving dog stands up to ( Read more... )

I know I'm getting this one wrong, because I'm trying to make Chitty Chitty Bang Bang match up to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

Man, I have no idea...

But, speaking of Brazilian, you just reminded me of another one from last night: Man realizes his city is controlled by psychic aliens and drug dealing street kids from the favelas of Rio.

I got the second one: The Full Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Third: Ocean's 12 Angry Men?

4: The Boleyn Girl With the Pearl Earring?

1: The Empire Strikes Back to the Future

5 I have no idea.

I'm really proud of #5, and I'm sort of assuming lynxreign'll be the one to get it. ;)

Dammit, he doesn't look at lj during the day anymore! I'm going to have to email him the text of the post to soothe my own curiosity!

The thing that's driving me crazy is that I know I *do* know both movies, I just can't solidify either title. But you're right, he'll get it right off.

It has to be the original one though, because the Pierce Brosnan one is about art. Which i prefer, actually.

Well done!

My only complaint with the original Thomas Crown is the horrible, HORRIBLE, OMG IT IS SO HORRIBLE I WANT TO KILL KITTENS theme song. But I love the 'lude induced split screen editing, only because it leads to such great parodies in films like OSS 117.

And honestly, I prefer the remake as well. It has more panache.

Yeah, like Sabrina I saw the remake first, and I tried to watch the original and just couldn't like it... The new one is more stylish AND more romantic, probably reflecting it's time just as much as the rather cynical 1968 version... so unsurprisingly I like the new one better.

Now that i've moved to boston I should probably try, since it's set here.

I have the title mashup, but not a good description. The Sixth Sense and Sensibility. :)

I'd go with "I see dead Dashwoods."

And speaking of those kind of period pieces, here's another one I just remembered from last night: "A wooly mammoth and friends flee the advancing glaciers, only to find themselves swept up in New York City's Guilded Age social swirl."

Correct!

The chickens don't want to be made into pies, and have 20 minutes to somehow get their hands on 100,000 deutsche marks or their boyfriend gets it.
