I am neither a Republican nor Democrat. Not considering, the events unfolded have rendered me dumbfounded and numb. I have lost faith in the American system and the people. And it is true, I also have a stigma against President Bush, but is not without merit. These next four years will spell certain doom for our country -- perhaps -- not in our ( Read more... )

Back door draft(aka national guard, other people who know what they're in)= FINE with me. Heh. Regular draft= bad stuff. And yeah, that's why I voted for the republican psycho representative instead of Jim McDermott, because guess who's working on this draft bill? Yep, him, the beloved insanely liberal rep. And I hate him so much. SO MUCH. I actually feel better about the draft with Bush than Kerry...just because Bush has said blatantly and loudly that no draft will be reinstated, and Kerry completely...ignored the question in the debates. I voted for Kerry though. Buuuut yes. I emailed President Bush about this earlier today. Yep.

Actually, I mean a draft in the regular sense. If National Guardsmen and reservists are called up, be scared out of your wits, because that is when they'll conscript regular people. Or soon, there after, anyway. And about Jim McDermott, yes he is a liberal, but no, he does not support the draft. Sounds a bit of a paradox, I know, but he was doing it to protest the war and the draft. They even had a poll in the House, and it fell 402 to 2. He is actually opposed to the draft. And about Bush, yes, he said he would not reinstate the draft, but there is insider information that the Bush administration is planning to mobilize guardsmen and reservists, which in turn, would lead to a regular, full blown draft. Kerry did, in fact, disagree with the draft. He made it clear that he would never reinstate the draft. Both candidates did. I just think Bush is lying.

And btw, the twin bills were never meant to go through. And they won't. But Bush won't need the bills to reinstate a draft since he can give Executive Orders.

National Guardsmen and reservists HAVE been called up, the back door draft has been there, and the regular draft isn't here yet. Not all of them have been called, but not all are needed. Jim McDermott is the one pushing it forward still, I've read countless articles on this. And the article that sticks out in my mind was published right after it fell 402 to 2. This is because the election hadn't gone through yet, and no way would they ever jeopardize the reelection of Bush. Kerry disagreed with the draft, but on the campaign trail. During the debate where they were asked in an extremely straightforward way, Kerry completely avoided it. Bush could very well be lying, who knows, but at least he was giving a straightforward answer. And yeah, keep in mind that I voted for Kerry. Ha, I'm not stupid. I'm listening to his news conference right now, it's interesting.

wow im so glad you actually used hard evidence in your argument instead of claiming that bush was personally going to ruin your life. i am a pessimist in every way, and i agree that america will fall. soon. it's inevitable, and it makes me sad that people think the fate of our country lies in the hands of any one man, or even an administration. the actual meat of our country has rotted... we are selfish, apathetic people, and we've had it coming.

fuck checks and balances...republicans control the executive and overwhelmingly the legislative branch...

now that probably 3 supreme court justices are gonna freaking DIE or retire soon...our judicial branch will now be the bush administration's puppet.
