This is a post! It is about my cat.

So I took C-ko to the vet today because I noticed the inner eyelid of her left eye wasn't retracting right. After some googling I determined that yes, going to the vet was a thing, and zipped over there (and I do mean zipped--I called at three and got a three-fifteen appointment ( Read more... )

You're not kidding. -_-;; I wasn't able to grab her last night and she's been changing hiding spots ever since, and now, this morning, she's inside the cabinets in the kitchen, in the far corner where it's near-impossible to grab her. She is going to be super-pissed when I drag her out like I'm going to.

Yeah, they didn't seem super-busy that day, which is why I think they were able to pull all that off in three hours. I just wish we'd thought to do the bloodwork sooner--but since she'd just had bloodwork done three months ago and it came back fine, we went through the whole x-ray/ultrasound/what-have-you first. --and it might be manageable, but oi, the prescription for insulin that they called in at Wal-Mart was $150 bucks. (And since they recommend you throw it away after a month and C-ko's only getting one unit twice daily, I'll barely have touched the contents by the expiration date.) Fortunately my mom is a physician so after this I'm just going to get the supplies from her.

Poor kitty! Poor you having to deal with poor kitty!
Glad it's treatable though and she didn't have to sit alone in the car to long (I always worry about doing that!)
Good luck digging kitty out.

Kitty was dragged out of the cabinets this morning! She got less angry when she realized there was food.

That sounds like the tactic I would use. My cats always fall for it. :)

eeee! I'm glad that it's managable, but eeep. Is it chronic? Poor dear. But you can help now that you know what it is.

Also: I am given the impression that cats can bend space to hide in tiny tiny places. Good luck.

Well, I mean, it's diabetes, so yes, it's not ever going to go away. But it's totally manageable--both times I've given her the shot she hasn't even noticed because she's been stuffing her face.

She keeps hiding inside the kitchen cabinets in the far corner that's really hard to reach. I duct taped the doors she usually works open closed, but if she really wants to get in again, she will.

Poor C-ko! Kitty diabetes is annoying but thankfully it's liveable with!

P.S. Are you ever still on Skype? We should set up skype times so you can see Mr. Jowls. You've never seen him!

She doesn't seem to notice the injections (she's had two so far) since I give them to her while she's eating, which of course takes priority over whatever I am up to.

I am like never on Skype, but I am totally up for a chat whenever you want. I would be happy to meet your kitty! We can bitch about our jobs to each other in person instead of just through lj posts! (Well, sort of in-person anyway.)

That's really fortunate for you. Mr. Jowls even hates it when I put Revolution on him.

Yay! We should totally skype then at some point. I will totally read you amazing quotes from undergrad labs.

Update as of today: she's noticing and making it harder by trying to swivel herself away when the needle pokes it, making it difficult for me to depress the plunger.

Huzzah! I would be delighted to hear all of the ways your students manage to eff things up and to tell you tales of my own! When's good for you? :)

I'm glad you finally found out what was wrong! Still sucks for C-ko, but at least it's manageable.
