Hello,

my partner and I are planning to move to Edmonton at the end of August for school reasons. I live in Victoria right now and I'm finding it a little challenging to find a place to live from so far away.

I'm just wondering if any of you locals have any suggestions on the better areas to look for housing in or what places to avoid.

Any suggestions would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks!

Alright, some more brief information to help suggestions if there are any. We're both looking for a reasonably quiet area as David will be working on his MA and isn't too keen on mixing with a lot of the university crowd. We've both just finished our degrees at UVic and are thus rather poor students without a vehicle. I'm concerned with being in an area near busses and a grocery store, that's not hours from UA.

I keep hearing from everyone that "north of the river" is bad, but I can't seem to get any info on what specifically is bad and where it is actually bad. I've been searching for housing around Oliver & Queen Mary and it doesn't seem that ghetto to me..

All we want is a 2 bedroom with decent rent in a convenient location that is not loaded with crime or beyond civilization.
