“But why didn’t you like her Edmund?” Lucy whined
“Because she was boring!” Edmund cried, “Yes she was pretty, yes she was smart but she was SO BORING!”
“Edmund, you are so cruel, she was doing the best she could!” Lucy grabbed her brother by the wrist, “Why is it that every girl you become boyfriends with you just end up leaving them…”
“That’s because every girl Susan brings home fancies me and thinks I’m cute, that’s why I leave them!” Edmund threw his hands up and groaned in frustration, “I don’t want to be cute!”
“So, what are you looking for Edmund?” Lucy asked, linking her arms through her older brothers, “Mumma and Poppa say I’m smart and pretty…”
“Yes you are smart and pretty but you also have a personality, a sense of humour, you’re kind, sweet, funny, enchanting, and completely adorable and actually have your head screwed on tight enough that you can tell you’re left from your right,” Edmund ranted, he turned to Lucy who was beaming
“Is that what you’re looking for then Edmund? What you just said…” She asked with a sly smile. Edmund said nothing for a while and just looked at Lucy, a gormless expression forming over his face.
“I … well… I…” he stuttered and Lucy gently pressed her lips to his. Responding tenderly then slowly breaking away, Lucy bounced off and Edmund hazily followed.
