*patpat*

But Holly was stressed out, too; from her accident, and from losing Prairie Dawn. We don't know what cat's memories' are like, or even a whole lot about their social psychology, but even anthropomorphizing, I can see her point.

It's hard to not feel guilty, though. *pat pat some more*

And the only reason why Jenna and Sam are getting along lately is because she finally had it and slapped the crap out of him enough to cut his cheek. So, in conclusion, who can understand cats? Only other cats, apparently.

Cats, man. But Holly's much calmed down now.

I'm so sorry it didn't work out. It's always so tricky with animals, and I don't think we can ever understand why two can become the best of friends and another two just can't get along. But you did what was best for all of you, I think, and I know it's hard but please try not to feel too guilty about it. *hugs*

It's just so weird to me; the vet says Holly's friendly to other animals when she's boarded there. *hugs*

But that's not her territory. I think that can make a big difference with some animals. Ripley is very different when someone is in his yard as opposed to seeing them in the street.

Hey, it happens--doesn't mean you're a bad mom or a bad person. Animals just do their own thing, and sometimes you can't guess how it's going to turn out. Sorry to hear about Jane--I'm sure you did your best.

I suppose it could have been nothing more than Holly being defensive because she's never been around another cat with her bad leg, too.

I'm so sorry, but you did everything you could.

Holly does seem much better now, and it's a let-live shelter, so it does look like it was all for the best. Thank you.

*hugs* No, you are not a failure or a bad mommy, you just have a difficult situation, alas. Some cats are just that way. I have a rescue that I need to find a new home for, because of similar stuff. :( So I understand some of what you are going through. My 13-year-old little man is a sweetie, and the half-grown kitten is a terror and chases him, and he has done nothing to provoke it. I really don't know what to do with the kitten, as I can't imagine giving her to my worse enemy. *hugs again*
