I get it, Barack Obama is the first black man elected president. It is a truly monumental thing. But no matter how many times you play MLK saying he has a dream followed by Obama saying "yes we can", racism is not dead in America. No, this doesn't make up for slavery, stop saying that.
Well as expected, America picked its poison, and now we get to live with it for the next 4 years. As much as I hoped it would end this way for the good of my party and the nation, I can't really *celebrate*, though I did buy some champagne and am drinking it now. As much as I abhor most of Obama's policy stands, at least I take solace in the words

Amy, me, and the baby evacuated thursday afternoon. We were planning to visit my parents this weekend anyway, but getting friday off just extended our vacation.
