Thoughts on Evolution (1st of 2 long posts)

What follows are a pile of facts and misconceptions on evolution...many are, surprisingly, widely held, despite being disproven over and over. The fact that so many people hold such false ideas regardless of facts is somewhat frusterating and I just feel like mentioning some of the lesser known (at least to many people) ideas that keep coming up ( Read more... )

The nice thing about probability is that you don't try to be 100% right all the time, but you take advantage of knowledge and information to be right most of the time, and on the most important scenarios. Of course, we cannot predict evolution perfectly (unless we genetically engineer/control everything), as there are too many variables...but like predicting weather, we can get more and more accurate with increasing technology. Also, it is important to remember that, overall, technology is still young, 100 years ago electricity was in it's infancy, it just takes time and cooperation, but we'll one day have much greater understanding of life than we do now...as similarly we do now, when compared to the past.
