YOU ARE A CHEF

Say, are there any Ed's World or Lawn archives anywhere?! I can't find my story of the day I was an impostor Sous Chef, and I'd sure like to inflict it upon the people of LJ now that the statute of limitations has probably passed.

Ed's World maybe, if Clickie's friends haven't wiped it off the server. Lawn very unlikely, as I think the whole thing died in an unrecoverable fashion.

Yeah, I think The Lawn had already passed away by the time I'd had my moment of deception and chicanery in the face of Seasoned Culinary Professionals.

I miss those places and peoples. We should find a way to reconnect, neh?

Okay, you know what's scary?

I was just thinking of that the other day, for some reason. We'd had a culinary something-or-other around here in Vegas, and I was thinking to myself: "Hey, remember that guy at that place who wore that SOUS CHEF badge and went to that culinary conference and taste-tested stock?"

That's freaky.

And it was good stock, too! Was the perfect sake chaser.

*eyeek!*

Well ho-lee shit. There might, after all, actually be some archives. Let's have a look-see at this directory full of dated tarballs named like "ed-200303.gz"....

"You are a chef?"

That's what the lady at the registration counter said to me as she printed out my convention badge and handed it to me, though I mentally replaced her ending punctuation with a question mark.

I do, in fact, have that post. Many times over, it's in all the backups from 2003-04 onward. Between MySQL's bizarre dump format (text, with SQL strings) and whatever-the-fuck BB we were using's penchant for replacing anything that's not a letter with an HTML escape (&33;, anyone?) it'll take me a bit to reconstruct some usable text out of it, but it's there.
