Crime and Punishment

Should I stop reading "crime and punishment"?
This question is really directed at anyone who has finished it and can convince me it is worth while. I have read anna karenina and a few other 19th century novels, so I wasn't expecting the kind of clipped spare prose you get in a lot of modern novels. Erk, that is horible to read! I haven't read it - there was a great TV adaptation a few years ago with John Sim, which I highly recommend ;-)

I've just given up on Anne Enright's The Gathering which apparently has no plot and no remotely sympathetic characters. I never give up on a book!

Dracula, now there's a crap 19th C book. I'm sure writing it as diary entries & letters seemed like a brilliant idea when he started, but then the plot gets all exciting and action filled, and the main characters have to keep sneaking off to find half an hour to write it all down. Oh well, can't be bothered to re-write it all now...
