Isn't that pretty much what Buddhism says? It reminds me a lot of anatman (no soul) and sunyata (emptiness). You're in great company.

Oh, and Borges is amazing. Love his work.

It does seem like Buddhism would fit in quite well. Thanks for the terms though.
