Ohh wow it's weird to see a Castlevania game without Ayami Kojima doing the art. But Obata's art looks good/fitting too~
I think I'm growing out of cons too. :| I usually just go there for the goods but if you're in Japan, that's not special at all. ~_~; I think I'll start doing Artist Alley if I return to cons because it seems more interesting than the rest (not interested in panels or viewings or...yeah lol) Now if they had amazing doujinshi at cons like they do in Japan, I would be so happy. ;_________________________;
There were a couple people who had published doujin as well at the artists alley, but we were the only folks doing gundam. I kinda wished we had our own table as well--I probably wouldn't have wanted it the whole time, since wandering around and looking at cosplayers was fun, but there were some nice stuff at the artists alley. I wish I'd had some more time to look at it.
And, there are a bunch of Castlevania games without Kojima art. Usually she only does the 3-D games, which is a shame, since those games tend to be terrible. It looks like she's doing the design for the upcoming DS game, however, which hopefully will be as fun as Symphony of the Night. ...But really, I just like roid rage Raito as Simon Belmont. :3
Yeah, I was glad you could come and we got to hang out so much :D (As much as we did, anyway) You are so cute, I am sorry I couldn't hang out and fangirl y'all's costumes more on Sunday. :( Well, maybe next time.
And I guess I narrate my entries in my head as I write them, so it works out. :3 (I probably sound cooler in my head, though...sadly enough)
I'm kind of amused that you went to AX while living in Japan. But yeah, AX is the totally corporate con. Also totally lines. I would generally say avoid, but hey, free tickets is free tickets.
Yeah... I would not have gone on my own, but friends from Tokyo as well as friends from other places in the world were going, so it ended up as a trip. I'm sad that it meant that I missed you being here, though! :( I also missed out on seeing Lucy (she moved back to Indonesia two days before I got to NYC), and my friend from LA was here in Tokyo as well...gah.
Apparently, Japanese people don't like Castlevania--it is too serious. So making it a fighting game with Obata art is meant to kick it into popularity... I wonder how it will do? (I also wonder which character will look like L, and whether or not they will un-retcon Sonia Belmont, since she was awesome)
That's kinda weird, since the last few DS games with their anime-ish art and wacky character dialog have hardly been gloom-fests. But I guess that didn't work.
Upcoming DS game with the new female protagonist looks intriguing, though...
Yeah, I don't really know what's going on. But apparently the whole Metroid-exploration-type of game doesn't do it for the Japanese market??? This is all hearsay so I don't want to say anything for sure. Either way, I am looking forward to a game with a protagonist who actually IS a girl, instead of just looking like one... :3
