So, I gave in and got a Facebook account so I could see some pictures a friend's father had posted up. It asked me for my email account and some stuff happened and then I closed my browser and went back to work.

Yeah, these days when you friend someone who's new to facebook, it prompts you to suggest friending to everyone else on your friend list who you think they might know, so new friend suggestions seem to happen in an exponential explosion. It should die down once you've exhausted whatever social circles you have on there...
