Man, I have been snowed under. Busy, kind of on the edge of being in a funk, and generally introverted. Feh. Hence the no posting.

This week I'm doing a lot of work with the Divine Twins - one of our assignments this quarter in yezida's class is to sit with the twins and ask to be shown our contradictions, and then sit with them. It is incredibly ( Read more... )

Hee! It made me really motion sick for about an hour after the movie (twenty or so people left during the film, four of them threw up in the trash can outside; one of the folks running the screening told me about it after the movie). It's a good roller coaster ride, but doesn't hold up to any sort of analytical thought, no surprise. The effects are really good, in part because the film is degraded so it looks like it was shot on an old tape camcorder. It definitely will get you caught up in the moment if the hand-held camerawork doesn't throw you off.

But man, the handheld camera killed me D-E-D, dead. It made "Blair Witch" look like it was shot with a steadycam. Feh.

Oh man, and I had problems with "Blair Witch". OK, not seeing this one.

What is it with cinematography where everybody's got to swoop the camera around in a misguided nausea-inducing attempt to convey "you are here"? I mean, there are HOME IMPROVEMENT shows (usually targeted to the 20s-30s demographic) where they have to swing the handheld camera back and forth while looking at the newly upholstered loveseat. I start to get eyestrain & then I have to change the channel. And I have a relatively modest TV screen; it's not like it's taking up all of my visual field!

OK. Getting off my middle-aged soapbox now.
