Well, they live in "Chance Harbor" which in the show is in Washington which is right up next to Vancouver so I guess that makes total sense. Given your football comment, I assume you live in America. I live in New York and while we aren't as interested *cough*obsessed*cough* as some Canadians I know, we do appreciate our ice hockey. But then again, we're also another border state. When I lived in VA, I got weird looks for talking about ice hockey.

Yeah, I know the show is set in Washington, and the show itself is actually filmed in Vancouver. I just love that where most shows depict the major high school sport/hobby as being football, they went with hockey. It totally fit with the character of where they live, but it still tickled me pink.

And I actually live in Vancouver, which is why my joy is so pronounced. Usually my boys only get passing mentions on HIMYM, and usually nothing so glowing. It just made me preen a bit.

The hockey bit I get. I've got cousins in London who are all 'aren't you quaint with your little ice and stick game' while I take the high road and don't let the words 'soccer' and 'hooligan' cross my lips.

I have a bit of a soft spot for hockey myself (although I don't know all that much about it) so I LOVED THAT.

I always wanna go see the Red Bulls or the Black Wings play, but somehow it never works out :(
