Spamalot and Travis
The title says it all. This past weekend was my weekend to see Spamalot and Travis. This weekend is when my big Snow Patrol adventure starts.
Spamalot is brilliantly put together....I mean, throwing everything from the Holy Grail movie right down to the Flying Circus t.v. show into on broadway play is fantastic! I definitely want to see this show again...and again...and again!
And as for Travis...what can I say? The Scottish band is back in full force! I was a bit down on them for not touring here for so long and not putting out a decent album, but they're definitely back! The show was so good. Everything from the acoustic version of Flowers in the Window to Fran's amazing solo unplugged performance of Twenty - that blew me away...such a little guy with such a powerful voice!
After the show my cousin and I met up with the band. I first met Neil (the drummer), got a picture with him and was complete on meeting Travis as I had met the other three before. But I decided to wait a bit to see if anyone else came out. Fran (singer) finally came out followed shortly by Andy (guitar) and Dougie (bass). I got my picture taken with Fran and him being the sweetie he is asked my cousin if she wanted a picture as well - she didn't turn that down! Then I went to chat with Andy and got my picture taken with him - very nice. After that I went over to Dougie.
Backstory before I get to the good stuff....7 years ago I met Dougie, Fran and Andy at a record store signing in Minneapolis. As I was talking to them, Dougie was going NUTS for the Beatles shirt I was wearing. Saying, "where did you get that shirt?!!!" "I love it!" And when I couldn't remember where I got it, he insisted I remember! I couldn't and he was fine with that and posed for a picture with Fran and I....
Now flashforward to a few days ago. I ask Dougie for a picture and right after he says "sure" he says, "Nice t-shirt!" As we pose I think...here we go again with the shirt thing as I'm wearing my Beatles Abbey Road shirt. After the picture is taken, Dougie looks at me and goes, "we've met before....." and I say, "yeah...7 years ago..." he smiles, points to his shirt and says, "yeah..I remember you..." With that I'm totally lost for words as my cousin gets her picture taken with him. After she's done he turns back to me and says, "it was really nice meeting you again" and I said "you too, I hope to see you guys soon" and he said "I'm sure you will" with a smile and that was that. Needless to say, I'm still on cloud nine!
