  -Lunar Ice

Jessica gazes at her back, checking if someone had notice her disappearance. The music's beat booms softer and softer as she continues to climb the stairs; her light steps only making the noises. She grabs the steel handle and turns it, causing a small screech. She glances again at her back before exposing herself from the cold temperature. She walks a few feet away from the door and leaves it open - in case she gets locked outside. When she found a comfortable place to sit, her brown eyes land at the big yellow moon up in the night sky.

She sighs peacefully. It was too loud and distracting down there at the party; sure, that scene would fit her style but maybe not now. She has too many things in mind that needed to be relieved. And probably the only thing that could help ease her mind is to find a quiet place, listen to some good music and look up at the bright golden moon that would fluster her all night. The thing she always does when she feels down, when Krystal and her fight, or when training exhausts her. How long has it been since she last did this?

Two or three years ago? She remembers a vague memory of coming up the rooftop of her dorm's building a day before SNSD debuted, but that was it. She could not recall any more pieces of her doing this. Just staring at the moon and being mesmerized by it until all her sadness was gone. This was her happy, alone time.

"What are you doing here, Sica?"

She turns her eyes to the speaker, carefully watching him as he approaches her with a smile. When he stops and sits just a few inches from her, she doesn't bother to answer his question and returns to her previous position. The boy crouches his back, hugs his legs and nests his head on his arms.

"Won't your neck hurt if you keep on doing that?"

Will it hurt her neck like he said? Of course it would. But that's probably better than having a heavy heart.

"Woah. It's cold. Aren't you shivering?" He says, rubbing his arm then blowing his warm breath on his hands.

That's a stupid question. It's below zero degrees outside, obviously that would make her shiver. Still, she dismisses it again, saying she doesn't mind because she loves the icy atmosphere - after all, she is the ice princess.

For a long time he stares at her. Her short blonde wavy hair being blown by the cool breeze. Her brown eyes sparkling like diamond, as she gazes at whatever was alluring her. Her pale pink lips cracked because of the coldness. And that tiny visible breath that appears when she sighs.

Then he realizes she's crying now. Droplets of tears brushing down her cheeks from her soulful eyes. He wonders why or what made her whimper suddenly. Yet he doesn't ask; knowing he came uninvited when she was probably comforting her stress.

She answers though, wiping the tears away over her gray cardigan sleeves. She laughs shakily, sniffing. "I'm sorry. I was trying to hold it back. I guess I reached my limit." She hesitates to talk. "I just... I feel sad for the moon. Surrounded by million of stars and it seems so near from here but in reality it's all light years away. It must be lonely for him up there. It's really, really sad." The tears start coming out again and she buries her face to her cool hands.

He gapes at her and halts the urge to reach out and hug her. He remains still though, too amazed by her. She acts differently tonight. The girl he sees on the stage is gone. No "Sica effect" - just the warmth feeling you get when you see your family or a love one (and probably a tinge of  sorrow).

The way she told the "lonely moon" gets him thinking. He looks at her firmly and and says, "How about you? Aren't you feeling lonely?"

For a moment there, she wanted to say no. Not anymore.

He probably gets it - he understands her. And it makes her smile knowing that someone may know the feeling. She stands up, dusts her pants and gives him a hand. He takes it, not quite sure why she didn't answer him. Before she closes the door, she looks up to the moon once more and smile. Maybe she doesn't need to stay up there all night and be 'calmed'.

Maybe all she needed is him.
