John Potter and the Half Blood Mitch

Well then, if you noticed Chris' journal he was not very kind to Harry Potter fans.  Now I am a huge fan of Chris and he is probably one of the most intelligent guys I know, especially when it comes to the Civil War.  I have no doubt he will get his own "hat" next year.  But with that being said I do enjoy the Harry Potter books but don't think I am a smack-tard.  Well maybe I am but not for liking Harry Potter.  It is all a matter of opinion isn't it?  Some people may think that we "mentally masturbate" about monuments or men in wool suits.  Now I do hold the Civil War and those who fought it way above the world of Harry Potter but the bottom line is I enjoy both.  And thats what its all about, whatever makes you happy just do it.  No matter what the rest of the world may beleive. I am not going to try and convince Chris or anyone that Harry Potter has definitely skewed away from being a children's novel (Because my opinion this last book was far from a book targeted to 12 year olds) nor am I going to try and persuade anyone to read the books if they don't want to read them.  If you are not in to the fantasy thing then you aren't in to it.  For me I have always enjoyed the land of fantasy from Peter Pan, Batman, The Neverending Story, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and many others, to the world of Harry Potter. (I never really got in to the Lord of the Rings, just don't like it that much)  But thats just me, and we all know I can be strange at some time.  I can assure you I do not compare Harry's size to my own and I believe I do enough "wanking" (Just ask my roommate he likes to tell people about it).  I'm not angry, just wanted to throw all that out there.

With all that being said my weekend was a very Potter filled weekend.  Well almost every weekend is a Potter filled weekend since I live with one, but this weekend being extra Potter filled.  I did purchase the book with anice trip at midnight to Hanover.  Spent most of the weekend reading it but also seeing Charlie and the Chocolate factory (Another bit of fantasy I enjoyed)  Johnny Depp made the movie quite enjoyable.  I finished the book early yesterday morning, rendering me no sleep for work, but it was a good day nonetheless.  My opinion of the book was it was very good.  (Stellar vocabulary, I know)  There were a few things that I wished or hoped for and a few things I disliked but overall its is one of my favorites.  I do agree with Val, who said it best, that the middle of the book seemed almost "fan-fictionesque" with everyone hooking up with everyone.  I understand they are 16 and 17 now and that happens but I just thought, Heromine especially, did not really act like themselves.  She particularly, acted, I suppose like a typical girl whoring herself to get what every girl is after...the big "A."  No....not Ass....yeah thats right...ATTENTION.  But I guess JK wanted it to be realistic so she had her act this way.  Also I was disappointed that there was no Voldemort sightings and battles.  But I did enjoy learning his past and such, and suppose JK is saving it for the big showdown in the final book.  Other than that, enjoyed the book immensly.

Returning to the real world here, I am having some company this weekend.  Might be taking a trip to DC to see some museums, if I feel like driving.  Also Terri's 21st is this weekend and folks will be in town for that.  so a busy, fun-filled weekend is being anticipated.  Other than that I cannot complain other than my loans have gone up again and I still need a new phone, which still works but very badly.  Also my computer is a little messed up but, can be expected with a six year old dinosaur.  And I have still been thinking about things both good nd bad, but not nearly as much lately which is good.  But i doubt they will ever completely be out of my mind.  Anyway better actually get some work done.  I doubt anyone is still reading this long-ass entry anyway.

Until next time, I lose my temper with you...Totally? Totally!

E

PS The title of the entry was just something I thought would be funny, no meaning to it whatsoever
