Our apartment is somewhat besieged by tiny ants. I've done everything I can -- put the cat's food in a tupperware and a moat, take out food-based garbage incessantly, and it's not really helping. I just cleaned the bathroom (they seem to exist in one of two places: the bathroom or the kitchen) with some h-core lysol-age, so hopefully it'll help ( Read more... )

Well, it's probably not your unit that's the problem. All the other rooms of the dwelling are probably quite well-contained, but where lots of pipes are going in and out (and fragrances exist), they will find that little spot of missing caulk.

The landlord should supply you with little ant-poison traps to put in the cupboards under the sinks, and other places not prone to Trekkittens.

Yay, running! I am forced to choose sports that I can do in the evening, or do on a machine while reading assignments, for I can only wake up early to study, catch a train/flight, or pack up a tent and hit the trail. And since you're doing it right, you will likely see changes in size/stance before any changes in mass. Also, for a hilarious story about losing weight and its physic(s)al implications, I recommend H.G.Well's short story "The Truth about Pyecraft"

Sucks about the ants. What are you doing Friday night?

We had an ant problem and discovered it was from Loki's water dish. We had one of those dishes with the spout that dispersed running water (he's a picky kitty and prefers aerated water to stagnant water). The ants felt like water + warmth from the battery plug = GREAT NEW HOME! We had to pitch the thing. It was bad.
