Random Smallville Thought/Question

These are the random things that pop into my head:

When Smallville would first start filming for a new season, they would usually start sometime in July, right? Aqua was the 4th episode of the 5th season. It probably would have been filmed in late July, early August...Would it have already been that cold during that time in Vancouver that the cast ( Read more... )

season 5, aqua, behind the scenes, smallville

Well, you know Canada is perpetually freezing and we all live in igloos and ski everywhere!

In the real world, it was probably just a cold couple of days and/or the cast was just keeping themselves covered between takes. If you notice, none of the extras are dressed the same way.

I always assumed that the extras weren't allowed to cover up in between takes because they weren't "special" enough.

They might have shot this very early in the morning, where it was a bit cooler. As the day went on, it probably got warmer.

I live one state south and the weather is very similar. While late July and August can be hot, it's not uncommon for it not to be. Maybe 80's and windy near the water?

We'd all swim in it, but out of towners used to real weather might be less enthused?

Also a good point. Maybe they were all being modest, too?

Vancouver can have pretty chilly summers - highs of only 16 - 17 degree celsius. Plus, being by the water it's usually a degree or two colder.

I'm a stupid/lazy American so I don't know what the conversion of Fahrenheit to Celsius is (and I'm too lazy to look it up). :-)

However, I think the ideas that it might have been early morning or that the water makes it colder are good ones.

As you may know, I'm a tad bit obsessive about the BtS pictures and I have a spreadsheet keeping track of all the info I can gather on them.

The Aqua pictures are dated 9/13/05, which suggests the episode was shot in September, or that could be the date the pictures were released to the public, so it's hard to tell.

For comparison here are dates from other BtS pics from S5 (again, I'm obsessive)
5.02 Mortal 7/25/05
5.05 Thirst 8/15/05
5.06 Exposed 8/30/05
5.07 Splinter 10/12/05

I'm not sure, but I think the beginning of S5 may have been shot out of order to accommodate KK, who took time off to either finish up her film Partition or to promote it.

I enjoy your behind the scenes picture obsession because I get to reap the benefits. :-)

If Aqua was shot in September, it's no wonder they were covering up whenever possible. Those poor extras though!
