I cut the first cucumber of the season out of my garden today. We sliced it up almost ritualistically and made it a course for lunch, and we all partook of cucumber wafers in communion-like fashion

I bet you no longer marvel at why the old lady down the street (or maybe grandma) manages to maintain her flawless garden. It's a full time job. After six years of failed efforts, Mike and I finally are harvesting our first round of tomatoes. It's all trial and error. This process takes time. Patience, virtue and all that jazz.
