One thing that was kind of getting to me this weekend (not really in a bad way, just weird) was the frequent use of the word "gamers" to describe our crowd. I've never thought of myself as a gamer. I associate that word with role players and hardcore video gamers. Me? I'm just a person who'd rather play Pounce and Apples to Apples than sing

I could not agree with you more. I often feel like I don't fully belong in either world. I lack geek street cred because, while I read incessantly and enjoy Buffy and Harry Potter, I read very few comics and don't enjoy role playing or video games. But, like you said, I'm relatively quiet and wear glasses but no makeup, so what other label are they going to stick on me?
