Castle "Knockdown" blog. Because it had to be done.

So K wanted to go to bed, but I couldn't let the airing of "Knockdown" go unwatched. And since my snark knows no off switch regardless of whether anyone's conscious to enjoy it, in the vein of the "Tin Man" blog of doom, I shall saddle you with my inane, half-formed ramblings.

OMG I have so much to say in response to this (this being your recap comments btw, not so much the episode as my head still hasn't figured that all out, but your comments alone deserve so many reactions!) but I am exhausted so will have to come back tomorrow.

LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU!

I am ashamed to say I missed the noise the first time around, so wrapped up in my "logistics!" dance that I forgot to see the forest for the trees. I hereby deduct my hundred points. And you know what? I honestly can't think of any couple on any other show I watch that has the chemistry these two do. They were what the word "daaaayyyyyuuuummm" was invented for.

Beckett's whole characterization bugged me last night. I wanted to see the quiet, subtle intensity of the scene in the prison for the whole episode. Brooding!Intense!Beckett is my downfall. Hee.

I yelled to Kris "OHMYGODIT'SGOODMAN" when the preview aired, that's how chock full of useless information I am. And how much season one still stands out in my head, because in my world, "Bones" ended after season two.

Um, Goodman, much as I love your "soothing African American tone" (tm Zack Addy back when "Bones" was good)

HOLY SHIT THAT WAS TOTALLY GOODMAN HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS??? No WONDER he looked familiar! I almost didn't pay attention to that epic scene because I kept getting distracted trying to place him. So thank you, now I'll be able to sleep at night.

You win for all the Katic hair points because she earned so many this episode, she freaking BROKE THE SCALE. Goddammit, Stana. Your hair should NOT look that perfect when you've just beat the crap out of Goodman into the one-way mirror and are being kicked off the case.

The mayor? The police commissioner? Massive Dynamic?

Having recently finished season 1 of Fringe, you win another billion Katic hair points for this reference.

But I have to tell you, I have a lot of mixed feelings about this whole scene.Yeah, me too, much as it pains me. Though it's not about the logistics of the scene (although, now that you've pointed them out, the whole setup IS kind of weird and seemingly ( ... )

As I said to thedevilsheart, I yelled to Kris "OHMYGODIT'SGOODMAN" when the preview aired, that's how chock full of useless information I am. And how much season one still stands out in my head, because in my world, "Bones" ended after season two. Except for the Baby Andy episode, because those kids were wicked, wicked cute.

Her hair is the Ninth Wonder of the New World, I have deemed it so. All in favour?

missymeggins and I discussed the necessity of a Fringe/Castle crossover. Walter wanders in to Lanie's morgue looking for more singing corpses? Peter wanders into the Old Haunt and ends up discussing with Castle how to love two tough-ass women with guns? Astrid teams up with Ryan and Esposito to form the League of Extraordinary Sidekicks?

I saw you posted a reply...after I get Kris to stop hacking up a lung (I gave her the barking seal bronchitis...BAD EFFIE) I shall wander over there to read your thoughts.

My cable went out last night and therefore I didn't get a chance to watch it, but -

10:59: Is it bad that every time someone references Jacob Marley and/or "A Christmas Carol", I 1) envision the Muppet version and 2) sing Statler and Waldorf's "We're Marley and Marley, whooooah" song?

No, no, it is not, Waldorf.

HUZZAH! I knew it couldn't be wrong. Statler and Waldorf could never be wrong.

And thanks for the link to the article. It's nice to know that CBS apparently doesn't care about what its fans or cast think. Genius, PTB. Genius.

They are never wrong. Even when they are.

I would say you're welcome, but since the reasoning behind the article sucks...yeah. $$$ > fans apparently for PTB. Apparently they forgot that fans = $$$.

10:18: Epic (adjective): the spot-on dialogue/movement callback to "Sucker Punch" down to the very way Beckett grabs her coat. Perfection.

YES! There were so many great parallels it killed me. I loved the way in Sucker Punch she went to Castle after talking to her dad and realising she needed to keep working the case, and this time she called him in right from the beginning. CHARACTER PROGRESSION. I love the writers so much for how they handle these things, really I do.

10:26: Bravo, bravo, BRAH-VO for the Josh continuity, writers. Fandom might hate you for it, as you're impeding on allegedly twuwub, which I can understand, but this canon whore appreciates it. I think it shows immense depth and character in Castle. He knows he might not be able to fix this for Beckett, and his acknowledging that there is potentially someone who can do that for her - regardless of how it may personally make him feel - is awesome.AGREED. Fandom can suck it, I like realism. And yes, Castle really has displayed enormous depth lately. Also, the way he ( ... )

Yay!!!! I am SO. THRILLED. you posted a reply, because I watched the ep again with K this afternoon, and you know what? I am okay in saying this is a borderline failing episode for me, and I think I know why. "Sucker Punch" was such a tour de force episode that really, I should have realized "Knockdown" wouldn't really measure up. Is that a fair comparison? I don't know. But it worries me that what saved this ep for me was 1) Goodman, 2) The Ryan and Esposito Show (I'd go straight for Javi after the "yo' mama" line) and 3) Martha and Montgomery as the Fairly Odd Parents. (And of course the hair, but that goes without saying.) Beckett felt all wrong to me. Castle shouldered the burden of being epic for most of it, but since this is all about our girl, she should have done something more for me than she did. Like, the last scene of her at the prison? That quiet intensity? THAT'S what I wanted forty-two minutes of. Less is more sometimes ( ... )

It's interesting, because in the beginning I felt like Beckett was a little off too. But then when she showed him her Johanna murder board and admitted she started in OVER THE SUMMER, it changed my perspective a little ( ... )

You are amazing. No really, you are. That explanation makes SO MUCH SENSE I can barely stand it. Like, really, it's giving me pause and a little more respect for the episode. I will not ask to steal your logic to expand the nom de guerre fic, because stealing is bad.

As I said to niuxita21, it could so work. Walter wanders in to Lanie's morgue looking for more singing corpses? Peter wanders into the Old Haunt and ends up discussing with Castle how to love tough-ass women with guns? Astrid teams up with Ryan and Esposito to form the League of Extraordinary Sidekicks?

And I forgot to add, I will not be vacating your brain anytime soon. It's rent controlled. Hee.
