REVIEW: I actually don't like this type of movies and watch them very rarely. But Iwo Jima had Nino in it, so... I wasn't disappointed in Nino's performance, he really was brilliant. He managed to make me forget that he was Nino from Arashi and completely become Saigo, which is a huge achievement really. Anyway the movie itself wasn't boring or anything but since like I said I don't really like war movies my mind drifted away couple of times. Not too many times though which is probably even greater achievement. It was really well done, although I don't dig the monochromatic kind of view war movies usually have.

REVIEW: Good one. I like how Japan is portrayed here. It's weird and noisy like it should be, but instead of making fun of Japanese customs, "Ramen Girl" teaches how to appreciate Japanese culture. I loved how they showed the way ramen is able to transfer cook's emotions. One thing that was annoying though was how the ramen girl understood almost everything, or at least the core of the sentence in spite of not knowing Japanese language at all. Same goes to Japanese people - despite the fact that Abby was talking to her teacher's mother (okaasan that probably never heard English before) in English, they almost perfectly understood each other. As for the actors - I've never liked Brittany Murphy before and although she didn't annoy me in this movie as much as she did in her previous ones I still find her ugh. The Toshi guy however, oh, so handsome *is in love*
ETA: *2 days later* OMG I just found out that Brittany Murphy died today (21.12.2009)! God, I feel so bad for what I wrote up there. RIP.

REVIEW: I liked it a lot, but right after I finished it, I checked online reviews and it looks like not everyone is so keen on this movie as me. That might be because I'm totally biased about almost everything Three Kingdoms have: I love every story based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms, I love Dynasty Warriors series and its heroes, I adore Any Lau, Chinese war movies and Chinese music. So yeah, like I said, I liked it, but that doesn't necessarily mean you would to.
ETA: I watched it again last night and I was even more amazed by it than I was last time. It's beautifully done, Andy Lau is amazing and the fight scenes were mesmerizing. It wouldn't even work for Megatron or the Fallen anyway 'cause apparently you have to "earn" it! Outside of the movie being weird and all, rotfl thanks to twins and bumblebee (I love bumblebee). REVIEW: Oh god... I've read Twilight and New Moon and I thought nothing can be worse than the second book, but unfortunately New Moon movie proved me otherwise. In the Twilight case the book was not so bad and the movie was even better, but in New Moon case both book AND movie were far worse than I expected. I was facepalming myself constantly while reading New Moon, Bella's pain attacks were ridiculous and her love for painfully emo Edward was killing me. Especially with far more normal shapeshifter close by. Damn, I seriously thought I've never read anything worse than that (despite the fact that I actually dig the plot and will probably read the rest of the series soon-ish). But then there was the movie... Even worse than the book, how is that even possible? Boring, annoying and Bella's screaming from pain at the mere thought of Edward was even more ridiculous when seen on screen. I didn't like Pattison and Stewart acting as well. I seriously hope Robert and Kristen are good actors in general, they just can't act in this particular type of movie, maybe because of the book which was so poorly written. And don't get me wrong, I actually love Stephenie Meyer's writing after reading "the Host", which easily became one of the best books I've ever read. She really knows how to write, so it's even more a riddle to me how could she write something like New Moon. And also I will never understand what's so awesome about Edward, he constantly looks and behaves like he's about to die. What's to love about someone like that? Nevertheless I still plan to watch and read the rest of the series, I've seen far worse movies than this and my love for fantasy and vampires is bigger than my discontent about this movie.
ETA: Oh GOD!!! Cedrik Diggory! How could I forget about this Pattison's role? He was awesome and incredible handsome there. Nothing like he's in Twilight now, he's getting uglier and uglier to me. Cedrik come back!

Anyway the monsters were a bit more disgusting than scary and also the way the female twin treated her brother was kind of disturbing. The way she looked at him, erm >.> I appreciate that New Zealand at least tried to make a good fantasy movie, and even if it didn't exactly work, it was a good first step. A bit more special effects, better actors and dialogues and it could have been a lot better movie.

REVIEW: I kinda liked it. I was annoyed while reading the book, 'cause I couldn't understand Corinne's feelings. I mean I understood that she loved Lketinga and that she was brave enough to give up her easy life for him, but still it was all too sudden for me. Besides I was annoyed that she didn't immediately run away after her beautiful Samburu warrior showed his true face. I can never understand women that let themselves to be treated like they are something worse than their husbands. I don't want to change Lketinga and his fellow warriors POV, their women accept their fate, but I can stand the fact that Corinne was sure she can change him. So naive, omg. Anyway if I didn't know it was autobiography I would not believe someone could actually behave the way Corinne did. Although I have to admit I admire her bravery and strong will. As for the movie itself, Jacky Ido was truly beautiful. His body was perfect, gah I loved his bath scenes <3. I could feel his love, even more than in the book, and I understood his feelings. I'm glad they finally worked it out and meet again after so many years. For what I know he found a Samburu woman for himself and he is happy now, same with Corinne. That's how it should be, I guess there were just too many differences between them.

REVIEW: I feel sorry for myself. It looks like I'm too dumb to understand what this movie was about. I don't think it's a kids movie, I would be scared for life with those weird, angry monsters. And if isn't for kids, then who is this for? Only one of those creatures (the one nobody listens to) is actually nice and normal, the rest of them are freaking scary, sadistic and in need of some serious medication, especially Carol, god what a creep. And the main hero, Max? I feel no connection with him. Despite the occasional normal behavior, he's mostly annoying spoiled brat (although I admit that Max Records portrayed him perfectly). And the end killed me, all the creatures were so sad howling their goodbyes, soft music was playing in the background, as if the authors wanted me to cry 'cause something is coming to an end, a friendship maybe? But sorry, no. I haven't felt anything, apart from relief that Max's creepy adventure finally came to an end. The way Carol was rushing to farewell Max, with tears in his eyes, could have been heartbreaking if not for the fact that I couldn't forget how he wanted to eat him couple hours earlier. And even if could forget about that and started crying then, everything would be ruined couple seconds later when the happy music started as if everything never happened (it probably didn't anyway but you know what I mean). Seriously what the fuck was that movie about? God, I feel like my brain died after watching this. I feel so depressed now and trust me, it's not my normal reaction after watching a family movie. All that said, it's still probably my fault for not noticing the beauty of this movie. It has fairly good ratings everywhere I checked, it got some awards and I've read a lot of positive reviews. It probably makes me the weird one, but no matter how hard I tried, "Where the wild things are" just didn't work for me.

He managed to make me forget that he was Nino from Arashi and completely become Saigo, which is a huge achievement really. Anyway the movie itself wasn't boring or anything but since like I said I don't really like war movies my mind drifted away couple of times. Not too many times though which is probably even greater achievement. It was really well done, although I don't dig the monochromatic kind of view war movies usually have.

REVIEW: Good one. I like how Japan is portrayed here. It's weird and noisy like it should be, but instead of making fun of Japanese customs, "Ramen Girl" teaches how to appreciate Japanese culture. I loved how they showed the way ramen is able to transfer cook's emotions. One thing that was annoying though was how the ramen girl understood almost everything, or at least the core of the sentence in spite of not knowing Japanese language at all. Same goes to Japanese people - despite the fact that Abby was talking to her teacher's mother (okaasan that probably never heard English before) in English, they almost perfectly understood each other. As for the actors - I've never liked Brittany Murphy before and although she didn't annoy me in this movie as much as she did in her previous ones I still find her ugh. The Toshi guy however, oh, so handsome *is in love*

REVIEW: Oh god... I've read Twilight and New Moon and I thought nothing can be worse than the second book, but unfortunately New Moon movie proved me otherwise. In the Twilight case the book was not so bad and the movie was even better, but in New Moon case both book AND movie were far worse than I expected. I was facepalming myself constantly while reading New Moon, Bella's pain attacks were ridiculous and her love for painfully emo Edward was killing me. Especially with far more normal shapeshifter close by. Damn, I seriously thought I've never read anything worse than that (despite the fact that I actually dig the plot and will probably read the rest of the series soon-ish). But then there was the movie... Even worse than the book, how is that even possible? Boring, annoying and Bella's screaming from pain at the mere thought of Edward was even more ridiculous when seen on screen. I didn't like Pattison and Stewart acting as well. I seriously hope Robert and Kristen are good actors in general, they just can't act in this particular type of movie, maybe because of the book which was so poorly written. And don't get me wrong, I actually love Stephenie Meyer's writing after reading "the Host", which easily became one of the best books I've ever read. She really knows how to write, so it's even more a riddle to me how could she write something like New Moon. And also I will never understand what's so awesome about Edward, he constantly looks and behaves like he's about to die. What's to love about someone like that? Nevertheless I still plan to watch and read the rest of the series, I've seen far worse movies than this and my love for fantasy and vampires is bigger than my discontent about this movie.
ETA: Oh GOD!!! Cedrik Diggory! How could I forget about this Pattison's role? He was awesome and incredible handsome there. Nothing like he's in Twilight now, he's getting uglier and uglier to me. Cedrik come back!

REVIEW: Wow, hmmmm, it wasn't such a bad movie, considering it came from New Zealand and the special effects weren't really stuning. Anyway the monsters were a bit more disgusting than scary and also the way the female twin treated her brother was kind of disturbing. The way she looked at him, erm >.> I appreciate that New Zealand at least tried to make a good fantasy movie, and even if it didn't exactly work, it was a good first step. A bit more special effects, better actors and dialogues and it could have been a lot better movie.

REVIEW: I kinda liked it. I was annoyed while reading the book, 'cause I couldn't understand Corinne's feelings. I mean I understood that she loved Lketinga and that she was brave enough to give up her easy life for him, but still it was all too sudden for me. Besides I was annoyed that she didn't immediately run away after her beautiful Samburu warrior showed his true face. I can never understand women that let themselves to be treated like they are something worse than their husbands. I don't want to change Lketinga and his fellow warriors POV, their women accept their fate, but I can stand the fact that Corinne was sure she can change him. So naive, omg. Anyway if I didn't know it was autobiography I would not believe someone could actually behave the way Corinne did. Although I have to admit I admire her bravery and strong will. As for the movie itself, Jacky Ido was truly beautiful. His body was perfect, gah I loved his bath scenes <3. I could feel his love, even more than in the book, and I understood his feelings. I'm glad they finally worked it out and meet again after so many years. For what I know he found a Samburu woman for himself and he is happy now, same with Corinne. That's how it should be, I guess there were just too many differences between them.

REVIEW: I feel sorry for myself. It looks like I'm too dumb to understand what this movie was about. I don't think it's a kids movie, I would be scared for life with those weird, angry monsters. And if isn't for kids, then who is this for? Only one of those creatures (the one nobody listens to) is actually nice and normal, the rest of them are freaking scary, sadistic and in need of some serious medication, especially Carol, god what a creep. And the main hero, Max? I feel no connection with him. Despite the occasional normal behavior, he's mostly annoying spoiled brat (although I admit that Max Records portrayed him perfectly). And the end killed me, all the creatures were so sad howling their goodbyes, soft music was playing in the background, as if the authors wanted me to cry 'cause something is coming to an end, a friendship maybe? But sorry, no. I haven't felt anything, apart from relief that Max's creepy adventure finally came to an end. The way Carol was rushing to farewell Max, with tears in his eyes, could have been heartbreaking if not for the fact that I couldn't forget how he wanted to eat him couple hours earlier. And even if could forget about that and started crying then, everything would be ruined couple seconds later when the happy music started as if everything never happened (it probably didn't anyway but you know what I mean). Seriously what the fuck was that movie about? God, I feel like my brain died after watching this. I feel so depressed now and trust me, it's not my normal reaction after watching a family movie. All that said, it's still probably my fault for not noticing the beauty of this movie. It has fairly good ratings everywhere I checked, it got some awards and I've read a lot of positive reviews. It probably makes me the weird one, but no matter how hard I tried, "Where the wild things are" just didn't work for me.

REVIEW: Oh god, the first 90 minutes of 2012 were sooooooo boooooooring or utterly illogical (wtf? freaking disaster books writer drives a car so perfectly that he manages to avoid an earthquake that brings the whole California down? a guy who took only few lessons of flying pilots his plane so well he manages to beautifully escape lava eruptions? a pilot waits for his clients when all hell's breaking loose instead of flying away saving his own ass??? OTL) they made me pull my hair out. Then, thank god, it started to get better. The last 30 minutes were fairly interesting (minus all the "oh, he BARELY made it" crap) but still awfully sentimental and painless to watch. Abridge it to a 60 (max.) minutes movie, cut all the "I love you daddy", "we can't strip ourselves of our humanity" bullshit and I'll watch it with pleasure.

There’s women, and there’s men") but I wasn't particularly interested in the plot. Summer was a bitch. I understand the whole point in her behavior and all that shit, but still - bitch. And I love how the other girl was called Autumn. Perfect. All in all it reminded me of "Pushing Daisies" a lot.
